Door replacement

Door replacement that closes, locks, and looks finished

A front door is both the way into the house and a large hole in the wall if it no longer seals. We replace entry doors, exterior doors, and patio doors for Ontario homeowners and small commercial entries.

Which door jobs belong here

Door replacement on this page means the door system, not a hinge screw. Front door replacement and entry door replacement cover the slab, and the frame or jamb when the old one cannot support a new door. Exterior door replacement includes side and rear doors that have warped, rusted, or started to leak at the sill. Patio door replacement and sliding glass door replacement cover wide openings where the panel, track, or frame has failed.

House door replacement is a common call after a renovation, a move, or a winter that made an old door obvious. Storm door replacement can be added when the storm unit is bent or the closer no longer works. Entrance door glass inserts are a different scope if the door itself is fine. That work is described under glass repair.

QTSHUB Windows & Doors is the company behind the visit. If you want every service in one place, use the services page. If the job is a new slider being set into a prepared or rebuilt opening, read sliding door installation as well. Window work requested at the same time is outlined on window replacement.

Benefits of a new door

  • The door latches without lifting the handle or kicking the bottom rail.
  • Weatherstripping meets the sill, so the entry stops whistling.
  • Glass, colour, and hardware can match the rest of the facade.
  • A tired patio door can be replaced before the track becomes a trip.
  • You see the scope in writing before installation day.

Signs the door should go

  • Daylight around the slab, or a visible gap at the latch.
  • Rot at the sill, a soft jamb, or a frame that has racked out of square.
  • A lock that no longer lines up, even after adjustment.
  • A sliding glass door that jumps the track or will not lock.
  • Rust, delamination, or a door that has been forced.

Options

Doors we replace

Front and entry doors

Single entry doors, doors with glass inserts, and entries with sidelights. We measure the existing frame before recommending a size.

Patio and sliding glass doors

Sliding patio door replacement and sliding glass door replacement when the whole system is worn. The sill has to be level or the new panel will drag.

Exterior, storm, and frames

Side and rear exterior doors, storm doors, and entry door frame replacement when the jamb is no longer sound. Trim is included only when the quote says so.

Door replacement cost

Front door replacement cost and the broader door replacement cost depend on the door, the glass, the hardware, and the opening. A plain exterior door is a different number from an entry with sidelights or a wide patio door. Average prices you see online rarely match a specific Ontario house because the sill condition is invisible in a photo.

Exterior door replacement cost rises if the jamb is rotten or the opening is out of square and has to be corrected. We price that correction in the quote when we can see it, and we pause if we uncover more once the old door is off. Windows and doors replacement as a combined project is quoted as one visit when you want both done together.

FAQ

Door replacement questions

Which doors can you replace?

Front doors, entry doors, exterior doors, patio doors, sliding glass doors, and storm doors when they are part of the same opening. We also replace door glass as its own job when the slab is still sound.

What affects front door replacement cost?

Size, material, glass inserts, hardware, sidelights, and the condition of the frame and sill all change the price. Front door replacement cost in Ontario is quoted after we see the opening.

Is a patio door replacement different from a front door?

Yes. A patio or sliding glass door is wider, heavier, and depends on a track and sill that stay level. We quote it as its own scope. New sliding door installation is described on a separate page when the focus is the install itself.

Do you replace the frame as well as the door?

When the jamb, sill, or frame is damaged, replacement of that material is included in the quote if it is required for the new door to sit properly. We do not set a new door into a rotten opening and hope.
